About the National ERA Publication Task Force

The National ERA Publication Task Force is a civic body established in February 2021 following the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment by 38 states on January 27, 2020. 

The amendment states: 

“Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged… on account of sex.” 

Under Article V, ratification by three-fourths of the states constitutes adoption. That threshold was met in 2020. 

Despite ratification, the amendment has not been incorporated into the officially published Constitution. 

The Task Force exists to advocate for recognition and publication consistent with the ratification record and to promote constitutional literacy and democratic integrity. 

It was formed by participants within the ERA Coalition who believed that constitutional publication and enforcement of the 28th Amendment must be treated as an immediate legal obligation — not a future legislative objective.
